Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: watch the 10th anniversary table read

And... action! Comedy classic Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a decade old. But time hasn't dimmed the euphoric punch of Edgar Wright's giddily surreal geek odyssey.

Although something of a box office failure on its original release, Scott Pilgrim (based on Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novel) has now asserted itself as a cult classic. Michael Cera stars as the endearing Scott, a young man head over heels in love with Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). But in order to win her heart, he will have to battle and destroy her seven evil exes. This includes a riotously funny Chris Evans as skateboarder cum appallingly vain actor Lucas Lee, and ex-Superman Brandon Routh as super-powered vegan Todd Ingram.

Wright's characteristic attention to detail bombards every frame, to the extent that there's almost too much to take in. From the 8-bit variation on the opening Universal Studios logo music, to the endorphin rush of the hilarious split-screen battle sequences, the film is nothing less than a comic book writ large.

To celebrate the film's 10th birthday, Wright and his cast have assembled for a charity table read. It's awesome to see how much the actors get into it – watch out for Aubrey Plaza's homemade censor bar for evidence of real commitment. Check out the video below.
