DC FanDome: everything you need to know

Forget Comic-Con. Because DC FanDome is arriving this August to make all you film geeks squeal with delight. A special one-off online event, DC FanDome promises to line up exclusive reveals of major forthcoming releases. Plus, there will be an assortment of panel discussions, cosplay and lots more. What is DC FanDome?

Put simply, it's a free online event that celebrates everything DC. Yes, we did use the word free. Moreover, DC FanDome is presenting itself as an immersive, interactive experience whereby the various goodies will be divided via six locations.

Hall of Heroes – the equivalent of Comic-Con's fabled Hall H, where all the biggest reveals will be unleashed
WatchVerse – explore the FanDome's theatre district for more exciting news
YouVerse – a special area designated for fan art and cosplay
InsiderVerse – as the name suggests, this area allows you to go behind the scenes on DC's biggest comics and movies
FunVerse – the place where you can explore the BatCave, grab fun collectibles and read digital editions of comic books
KidVerse – an area specially designated for DC's younger fans

Here's a little teaser, set to the unmistakeable strains of John Williams' soaring Superman theme. It seems as if this iconic piece of music is now the official DC anthem.

What movies will be revealed at DC FanDome?

More than 300 names are expected to participate in this special event. Don't believe us? Well, DC have put together this little video.

Expect reveals of Matt Reeves' The Batman, a fresh origin story for the Caped Crusader, starring Robert Pattinson. The movie is generating enormous hype for allegedly taking Bruce Wayne back to his detective roots, and there's an excellent supporting cast. Andy Serkis is Alfred, Zoe Kravitz is Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano is The Riddler and Colin Farrell is The Penguin.

James Gunn will also be bringing his reboot of The Suicide Squad to the party. This promises to revitalise the forgettable 2016 DC movie with a mixture of returning faces and franchise newcomers. Margot Robbie's returning Harley Quinn will be joined by the likes of John Cena and Idris Elba. Can this be the movie that the squad deserves?

Also stopping by: Wonder Woman 1984, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot. We're impatient for this one, seeing as it's bounced around the film schedules repeatedly. Fingers crossed it'll live up to the lively, humorous tone of the 2017 blockbuster, which was the solo movie debut of Gadot's DC hero. We're just expecting more emphasis on leg warmers and big hair given the time frame.
